LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR CLEANSER & DUO PLUS // PRODUCT REVIEW
As someone who has suffered from acne since an early age and still to this day in my young adult years still haven't figured out the magical potion to get rid of it completely, I have gone through so many cleansers trying to see what works and what doesn't. This range from La Roche Posay has been in my skincare routine for quite a long time now, and I am impressed so far. The effaclar range is targeted towards those with acne who also have sensitive skin and the combination of these two are great for m oily acne prone skin with discoloration.
EFFACLAR FOAMING GEL CLEANSER $24.99
This cleanser is the BEST cleanser EVER for removing make up. I used to use Mario Badescu as my cleanser and make up remover, however whenever I used toner, there would always be residue makeup on the cotton round. With this, it takes of EV-ERY-THING!!, Mascara, lipstick, foundation, eye shadow, everything. I love it. It is perfect to use with the Clarisonic as it foams up to a nice lather.
Purifying foaming cleanser for oily or acne prone, sensitive skin. The cleansing gel eliminates impurities and excess sebum while leaving the skin clean and fresh. Dermatologically tested for optimal efficacy and tolerance. Can be used on face and body.
Effaclar Foaming Gel gently eliminates impurities and excess sebum while leaving the skin clean and fresh.
pH of 5.5. Free of soap, alcohol, colourants and parabens.
It also has a pH of 5.5 which means its great for your skins moisture balance. It is very common for facial cleansers to strip the skin of its pH, making your skin very tight and dry. With this cleanser your face doesn't feel as dry as other cleansers after it has been washed. The odd thing about this cleanser, however, is that you can taste it.... Now I know that sounds weird, and no, I'm not eating it or putting it in my mouth, but no matter what, I can always taste it and it tastes bitter, which is not overly enjoyable.
PROS:
pH levels,
Soap free
Alcohol free
Takes off all makeup
Great for sensitive skin
Smells nice
CONS:
The taste, why can I taste it? Why?
RATING:
4.5/5
EFFACLAR DUO PLUS $29.99
I use this cream/serum every morning after my toner and before my moisturiser. You can use it as a spot treatment or all over the face. It is very light weight and doesn't make me feel dry, however I have read that it has dried others out and they had to build up their tolerance to it.
Dual action treatment reduces the number and severity of breakouts, improves pore size. Minimal irritation. Apply all over face one to three times daily.
Recommended for - Mild to moderate acne-prone skin. Mixed blackheads and whiteheads with inflamed breakouts.
Benefits:
Keratolytic action, visibly improves the skin in only 3 days.
Fragrance-free.
Oil-free.
Paraben-free.
Non-comedogenic.
This product claims to improve acne and the discoloration you get after the acne has gone ( my worst nightmare). And I do think that this helps to improve the healing of the hyperpigmentation which was my main concern. The bottle also lasts for a very long time, especially if you only use it on your areas of concern.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has acne and hyperpigmentation. I know that at Priceline they have little mini trial packs that include the gel foaming cleanser and duo plus, I would highly recommend that if you are hesitant to buy the full size.
PROS:
Fragrance-free
Oil-free
Paraben-free
Non-comedogenic
Helps with healing breakouts
Helps with the healing of hyperpigmentation
