KIEHL'S X SOCIAL SOUP // PRODUCT REVIEW

So, a few weeks ago I signed up to Social Soup. It is a company that gives you the opportunity to test out various products from different companies for free, in return for your opinion! Sounds pretty good, right? Well it is! I recently received some products from Social Soup who have been working with Kiehl’s to get our opinion on two of their products. I was super excited to find these two little sachets of goodness in my mail box one afternoon and am now ready to give my review on what I think about the products.

KIEHL'S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CLEANSING OIL $48.00

Oil is great for double cleansing and for removing hard to remove makeup. It is meant to even skin tone and balance the oils in your skin as well as be amazing for balancing out your acne. The sachet I received was Kiehl’s Midnight recovery cleansing oil. I was only able to get two uses out of It since It was so difficult to use in the sachet – the oil basically spilt everywhere, including my new top. So I would suggest keeping this product away from any fabrics as it does stain

But apart from the obvious oil staining possibilities, in the palm of my hand the oil was very light weight and thin. It didn’t feel like it was thick and heavy like coconut oil or any other thicker oil. It smelt of a very fancy musk stick (haha) and I didn’t mind it at all. It felt very nourishing on the skin and I could tell it was doing a great job at removing my makeup, eye makeup included.

I applied this oil on to a dry face with dry hands at first, and after rubbing It in for a little bit I added some water and continued to wash away the makeup. The oil turned in to an almost milky consistency and washed off very easily. It didn’t leave the skin feeling dry or tight, however I am suffering from very dry skin at the moment so I did go back to very tight skin after about half an hour without moisturising or toning.

Waking up the next morning, I noticed that my skin tone had evened out and the redness around the drier areas of my face were almost gone. To be honest, I can’t say for sure if it was the oil that did this or some other miracle, but my face improved after using this only once.
Using it a second night, I didn’t see that much of an improvement the morning after, however I did feel that the redness in my skin was improving.
Overall, I did really really like this product. I would like to buy it someday myself, however for the price, I’m not too sure.

PROS:
Smells great
Non-comedogenic
Removes hard to remove makeup
Evens skin tone
Removes redness
Gentle on the skin

CONS:
Price
Stains any clothing

RATING:
4.75/5

KEIHL'S CRÈME DE CORPS $43.00

Now this cream intrigued me more than the oil when I first received it since it said it was for dry flaking skin, and lord knows my skin has been super dry lately.  I know it says that it is an all over body moisturiser, but I used it for my face to see how effective it was on the driest parts of my skin.
There was not much of a scent with this moisturiser, just the generic light moisturiser smell and it was pale yellow in colour. This product was much easier to use in the sachet I was given since the consistency is more manageable to squeeze out than oil. I’ve used it 3 times so far, and still have some left in the sachet.

It is not thick in consistency, but not runny and thin either. It is the perfect amount of firm and glides on easily, spreading out nicely. You don’t need much with this product. It does leaves slightly greasy/glowy look after you apply it, so I applied it at night, however it doesn’t feel heavy and greasy. It felt quite light weight and nourishing, so the slightly greasy look it gave me didn’t bother me that much.

I do believe that it helped with the dryness of my skin, but not as much as I would’ve hoped it would. Surprisingly, I think that the cleansing oil helped more with evening out my skin tone and balancing my oils better than the cream did.
